Councillor Jen Tournay
I moved with my husband and young family to Downswood in 1985 where I have been a resident for the past 38 years.
As a youngster I lived with my parents in the Madginford area of Bearsted and attended the Maidstone Technical High School for Girls (now Invicta Grammar School), before training as a General Registered Nurse at both the Ophthalmic and West Kent General Hospital in Maidstone.
Since retiring from a 40 year career in nursing (working both in the hospital setting and as a G.P.Practice Nurse), the end of my caring responsibilities and helping my husband to run his Property Maintenance business, I decided that I wanted to give something back to the community of Downswood and became a member of Downswood Parish Council in June 2022.
I am particularly interested with preserving the “Well Being” of the environment we all live in and of those who live in Downswood, also aiming to maintain the independent character of the parish.
