As a Downswood Parish Councillor, I am once again seeking re-election and also running as an Independent Borough Councillor for the upcoming Maidstone Borough Council elections scheduled for May 2, 2024. Residing in Downswood for 37 years, I've had the privilege of serving our community as an Independent Councillor for the past 11 years. With deep-rooted local knowledge, extensive experience, and unwavering enthusiasm, I aim to continue representing the interests of Bearsted and Downswood residents to uphold our quality of life.
For those unfamiliar with me, you may often find me tidying up litter each morning as I walk 'BONNIE', my faithful canine companion, throughout our community. As an independent candidate, my sole dedication lies with the residents of these two parishes, independent of any political party or group.
If elected, I will advocate for measures to reduce speed along Deringwood Drive, Church Road, and Spot Lane in Bearsted. The surge in traffic due to recent housing developments to the South-East of Maidstone has led to significant congestion, impacting our community. Instances of "rat running" at alarming speeds along Spot Lane, Deringwood Drive, and Church Road have further exacerbated the traffic situation.
