Use of Social Media

21st May 2025

As a member council of the Kent Association of Local Councils (KALC), Downswood Parish Council regularly engages in training opportunities and adheres to the guidance provided by the association.

KALC acts as the representative body for local councils throughout Kent, offering valuable support, training, and resources to both councillors and clerks. (Equivalent organisations operate in other counties, providing similar services.)

Earlier this year, representatives from Downswood Parish Council attended a KALC training course focused on website and social media management. To illustrate one of the key takeaways from the session, all councils were advised that their official social media platforms should be solely used as an outbound communication tool. In other words, to be used as an electronic notice board with commenting switched off as it is an official local authority information site.

Should you have any questions or require further information, please do not hesitate to get in touch with the Parish Clerk. Please use the 'Contact Us' button which provides 3 ways of contacting the Clerk.
