Road Closures - Downswood & Otham (Update)
15th June 2022
The location of the closure for Deringwood Drive is at the junction with Church Road. This means that vehicles will not be able to exit out of Church Road onto Deringwood Drive, the works will be either side of the junction between Chiltern Close and Grampian Way. There will also be utility works along Church Road.Those who live on Ellenswood Close and Monkdown will need to exit South via Church Road onto the A274. There is a small period in the morning and afternoon where the school bus is being allowed through as per our request to Walkers.
The below works programme has been pushed back by 3 weeks and the works will now take place on the below dates:
• Deringwood Drive – from 18th July 2022, with estimated completion by 22nd July 2022.
• Church Road (North) – from 25th July 2022, with estimated completion by 9th September 2022.
• Church Road (South) – from 12th September 2022, with estimated completion by 11th November 2022.
• Willington Street – from 27th March 2023, with estimated completion by 14th April 2023.
• Spot Lane – 17th April 2023, with estimated completion by 28th April 2023.
Update
The time constraints on the road closure for Deringwood Drive, Downswood are no longer required, with the road being closed from 27th June 2022 for the full 5 days.
Access will be maintained to school buses am & pm, when it is safe to do so.

Temporary Road Closure - Various Roads, Otham and Downswood - 27th June 2022 (Maidstone District)
It will be necessary to close various roads in Otham and Downswood from 27th June 2022, with estimated completion by 7th April 2023.
The works will be carried out in phases, as detailed below.
Phase 1
Deringwood Drive, Downswood will be closed from 27th June 2022, between the hours 08:45 and 15:30, with estimated completion by 1st July 2022.
The road will be closed at the junction with Church Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route is via Church Road, Gore Court Road, Sutton Road, Willington Street and Deringwood Drive.
Phase 2
Church Road, Otham (North) will be closed from 4th July 2022, with estimated completion by 19th August 2022.
The road will be closed from outside Rectory Cottage to outside number 18, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route is via Church Road, Gore Court Road, Sutton Road, Willington Street and Deringwood Drive.
Phase 3
Church Road, Otham (South) will be closed from 22nd August 2022, with estimated completion by 21st October 2022.
The road will be closed from outside number 18 to outside Rectory Cottage, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route is via Church Road, Gore Court Road, Sutton Road, Willington Street and Deringwood Drive.
Phase 4
Willington Street, Otham will be closed from 6th March 2023, between the hours of 20:00 and 05:00, with estimated completion by 24th March 2023.
The road will be closed from at the junction with Deeringwood Drive, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route is via A20 Ashford Road, New Cut Road, A249 Bearsted Road, Sittingbourne Road, Andrew Broughton Way, Ashford Road, Wat Tyler Way, Mote Road, A229 Upper Stone Street, Loose Road, A274 Sutton Road.
Phase 5
Spot Lane, Otham will be closed from 27th March 2023, with estimated completion by Friday 7th April 2023.
The road will be closed from at the junction with A20 Ashford Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route is via Spot Lane, Mallards Way, Deringwood Drive, Willington Street and A20 Ashford Road.
This phase of works will cause no disruption to the A20 Ashford Road.
Please note, the above dates are subject to change and an update of works programme will be issued, where necessary.
The closures are required for the safety of the public and workforce while development works are undertaken by Walker Construction.
