If you would like an informal conversation please contact Teresa Irving, Clerk and RFO, using the details available via the following link: Contact us | Downswood Parish Council.
What do Councillors do?
Councillors play an important role in shaping and supporting their community. Their work typically involves three key areas:
- Decision-making
Through meetings and committee work, Councillors decide which activities to support, how funds should be allocated, what services should be provided, and which policies should be adopted. - Monitoring
Councillors ensure that decisions are carried out effectively by keeping track of how well services and projects are performing. - Community involvement
As local representatives, Councillors engage with residents and organisations, raising issues on behalf of the public and helping to address local concerns
How much time does the role take?
As much time as you feel that you can commit to. Overall, being a Parish Councillor is a rewarding and enjoyable way to contribute to your community and help make Downswood an even better place to live and work.
Attendance is expected at approximately ten meetings per year.
This is a voluntary role. Full support and training will be provided. A positive outlook, a can‑do attitude, and a willingness to work as part of a team are essential.
