HOKH Christmas Tree Recycling Appeal

10th December 2024

Start 2025 in the most tree-mendous way by recycling your Christmas Tree with Heart of Kent Hospice

Last year Heart of Kent Hospice recycled more than 600 Christmas trees and raised over £9,000 for the Hospice.

This is the third year that the Hospice has offered a hassle free, environmentally friendly way to dispose of your Christmas tree after the festive season. All the amazing volunteers will again be braving the pine needles and the cold to collect your real (spruce, fir or pine) trees over three days on Friday 3, Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 January 2025.

Trees will be collected from front gardens or driveways while you stay warm indoors!

A donation of £15 per tree is suggested and the amount raised from the Christmas Tree Recycling will help the Hospice to continue providing exceptional specialist care for people with a terminal illness either at the Hospice inpatient unit or at home.

The Hospice has once again expanded the collection areas with additional postcodes.

Christmas trees will be collected from the following postcodes and areas: ME5 9, ME6 5, ME14, ME15, ME16, ME17 3, ME17 4, ME18, ME19, ME20, TN12 5, TN15 7, TN15 8, TN15 9, Shipbourne, Plaxtol, Hadlow, Burham, Wouldham.

Book your slot before booking closes at midnight on 31 December 2024 at https://www.hokh.org/event/christmas-tree-recycling-2025/ The website also has a map with all the postcodes where collections will be made.

The Hospice team are looking to recruite volunteers from the community but are also looking for volunteers from businesses to help with this event. This could be driving your van or getting involved in some other way.

Businesses and Volunteers should contact The Community Partnership Team by either emailing corporatefundraising@hokh.co.uk or calling 01622 790195.

The Christmas trees will be chipped by partners Gallagher Group and the National Trust at Ightham Mote.

Media enquiries, interview and image requests to Caroline Edmunds at Pennington PR on 01892 616647 or 07775 943305.

About Heart of Kent Hospice

www.hokh.org

Heart of Kent Hospice has been providing free, compassionate, end-of-life care to people living with a terminal illness and their loved ones in Maidstone, Aylesford, Tonbridge and Malling and the surrounding towns and villages for the past 33 years.

The Hospice has built an excellent reputation within the local community for the quality of its care, which has been further endorsed by the Care Quality Commission who awarded us with an overall rating of ‘Outstanding’ following an inspection in February 2017.

Our vision is for everyone living with a terminal illness in our community to achieve the best quality of life. We are committed to achieving this by enabling them to live in comfort, with independence and dignity to the end of their lives, and to support those closest to them.

Last year the Hospice cared for over 2,000 patients and their families in their own homes or at our Aylesford-based Hospice. Our charity needs to raise £6.6 million to deliver all the Hospices services, and we depend heavily on our loyal community of supporters, whose generous donations and fundraising activities raise money for us every year.
