Crime Roundup
19th February 2024
Downswood Parish Council is proud of our successful partnership with other agencies, particularly the Police, in maintaining the safety of Downswood throughout 2023. The low crime figures, as indicated on the Kent Police website, reflect the effectiveness of these collaborative efforts.
However, it's important to address the discrepancy highlighted regarding the crime figures shown on Map 1. It's clear that the inclusion of Othams crime figures alongside Downwood’s has led to a misunderstanding, making it appear that the total number of recorded crimes for Downswood is 19 when, in fact, it was only 9 for December 2023. Additionally, understanding that the majority of these recorded crimes relate to Domestic Abuse underscores the need for continued vigilance and support for victims in the community.
Moving forward, it's crucial for accurate reporting and analysis to ensure that such discrepancies are addressed to provide residents with a clear understanding of the crime situation in their area. Downwood Parish Council's commitment to actively monitoring crime trends is vital in maintaining the safety and well-being of Downswood residents. Continued collaboration with law enforcement and other relevant agencies will further strengthen these efforts in keeping crime levels low and ensuring Downswood remains a safe place to live, work, and socialize.
