Downswood Digs In! A Grassroots Morning of Community Cheer
22nd July 2025
This morning, the Downswood Parish Council Open Spaces Team joined forces with church members and local residents for a good old-fashioned grass-cutting bonanza at the church grounds. The grass may have been tall enough to hide a large dog, but that didn’t stop our merry band of volunteers! Mowers roared, rakes flew, and laughter echoed as the green jungle began to retreat under the power of teamwork.
The church, a cherished beacon for Otham, Downswood, Bicknor Wood, and Madginford, welcomed helping hands from every corner. Spirits were high, boots were muddy, and the sense of togetherness was as bright as the morning sun—until the rain decided to stage a dramatic entrance.
But no worries! The mission continues. Another grass-cutting day is already on the horizon—just one month away. So sharpen your shears, dust off your wellies, and get ready to roll out the green carpet once again.
Here’s to community spirit, shared laughter, and the joy of making a difference—one blade of grass at a time! Well done to everyone
