Following Jerry's departure there is a vacancy on the Parish Council for a Councillor.  Anyone who is interested should contact The Clerk.

Downswood Parish Council is opposed to the Kent International Gateway site - A huge proposal for a 382,00 sq metre park with road to rail transfer facilities & associated business development at a site each of junction 8 of the M20 at Bearsted.  We strongly agree with the sentiments expressed by Maidstone Borough Council's leader Eric Hotson "The proposal is inappropriate and not all what we would want for this area".
STOPKIG.org is an umbrella organization formed by the community for the community to fight K.I.G.  It brings together Bearsted & Thurnham Society, SaveBearsted.com, SaveBearsted.org and others to form a group which aims to be THE channel for opposition to KIG.  The objective is to ensure that efforts are not duplicated or wasted but are coordinated for maximum effect.

 DO NOT call this number as this is a mail sram originating from Belize. If
 you call the number and you start to hear a recorded message you will
 already have been billed £15 for the phone call.

POLICE WARNING!
Maidstone & Malling Police would like to warn the public visiting
Maidstone Town Centre to keep their handbags secure. Research has shown
 that the victims are often ladies aged over 60 who are barged into. Keep
 your bag with you at all times and ensure that it is secure and zipped up.
 Do not leave it hooked on the back of a chair in a restaurant or leave it
 unattended in a trolley of pushchair.
Wall Building in Downswood

The building of brick walls at the front of your property is not allowed in Downswood. Any walls erected will have to be pulled down. Please consult MBC before building anything outside your house so problems can be averted.
